My brother asked me recently if I could make him a new website. It was important that the content is appealing and would correspond to a modern printing. Not important is the constant change and adaptation of the content. Moreover, its colors should be where fitted again.

Since I had already made one or another project with Redaxo I thought this might be the right solution. The site was quickly created from the bottom up approach and it could go off at the "Friemeln. My brother wanted but also article itself quite simple to edit and here it failed, all that was too complicated.

So everything again runtergeworfen and WordPress installed. So I have now done so 20 pages. Here was a theme quickly found what might fit. This could then be adjusted. Meanwhile, I had no more time to take care of me for the project and it languished as though to himself, and the spam has been more ... and the spam has been a lot ... and the spam has been to hell ....

Completely unnerved (of course there are Askimet ...) I decided to just try out iWeb times. Can that tool for the serious commitment to the development are used by websites? How extreme are the limitations and how can I dynamically create the page?

How did I proceed?

• In the beginning, I first selected a design template that was broadly in line with the wishes of my brother.
• Now I have set the home page and adjusted the design in width, height and color.
• After the home was made, I have made on the bases. For different requirements, I had chosen different sides of the basic templates. This I then adapted to the home page.
• A real problem is the navigation bar. I'm only in this step, although this one to really like to be the first step! This can be difficult to adapt at all (not if you are uncomfortable not really in HTML / CSS). Therefore you should create to hide the navigation bar and its own. As you can see in my example I have just set hyperlinks, but here are no limits.
• After I created the page as far as I imagine it went out the lyrics to place and write.
• Then I replaced the images with the desired of me. WARNING! This is an excellent drag 'n drop to just be. iPhoto opened and rübergezogen the image simple, very great thing. The page loads but incredibly long and the cause is found quickly. The images are not displayed in full size runtergerendert but just smaller. So the pictures already possible to adjust to the desired size and THEN move only in iWeb!
• Now, the pictures were in there, one or the other had not received a lovely shade. Here and there, missed a nice frame and slightly rotated.
• A contact form would also here. So another blank page with the template created, made adjustments to the design and then show using the Media) go to widgets and click on the HTML element ". Here is the required HTML code for the contact form filled in and it's ready.
• After everything in a first version it was as I imagined the page should also go online. iWeb offers some interesting possibilities. MobileMe is one of them (what I think of MobileMe I will be here once before outside). Another is an FTP folder. This has one major advantage: changes are directly visible in the Web and are processed directly online. So login information from the FTP server register, specify the folder and use the URL it should. How to set the rest "how and where to save what is" fairly simple. Links in the list, the Upper (starting out as "click the Site ') and set the settings for it.

All in all, has taken the creation of the website so far about 10 hours to complete. For such a project certainly a good performance and my opinion of iWeb: Good software with lots of potential for what are really really good. One or the other deficit is still there and some things could still be developed much better. An HTML / CSS editor would certainly be a super addition. Furthermore be special considerations for Google and great marketing open many many wishes. Although there are tools like iWeb SEO Tools but not in itself should bring even possible. In my next part I will respond to them even closer in terms of optimization.
